Renalzin contains the newest generation of phosphate binder, specifically approved* and formulated for cats
Renalzin contains Lantharenol (lanthanum carbonate), a non-aluminum and non-calcium-based binder, providing an effective new alternative to the limitations of existing options for phosphate-blinding:
- Aluminium-based binders may be associated with side effects such as drug-induced microcytosis, muscular weakness and encephalopathy
- With calcium-containing agents, development of hypercalcaemia may be a risk. Hypercalcaemia can lead to mineral deposition in the tissues.
Renalzin contains the only veterinary-approved phosphate binder that has an indication for the support of renal function in chronic renal insufficiency**.
Renalzin’s active ingredient, Lantharenol, is a potent chelator of phosphorus across a wide physiological pH range and remains largely in the gastrointestinal tract, with minimal systemic absorption.
Renalzin is formulated to be used with all types of diets – moist or dry – and, most importantly, is well-accepted by cats.
